Year 6 - Bovington Trip

On Friday 8th November, year 6 visited The Tank Museum at Bovington to support our work on World War One. The day was incredibly informative and enjoyable for the children. It was also especially poignant in the lead up to Remembrance and had a real impact on the children as they led MSJ's Remembrance Service on Monday morning. Whilst at the museum, children had the unique opportunity to go inside a real Mark IV tank - an experience not open to the public. Furthermore, children were able to experience some of what it would have been like to live in the trenches - complete with massive rats!

Ffion: "I enjoyed the trenches experience because I liked learning about the different ways that the soldiers lived, and what it would have been like to go up into no-man's land. It was amazing to see the fake tree trunks, where the British forces could hide and use as a lookout, but to the Germans it just looked like a tree!"

Taijo: "I really liked going inside the Mark IV tank. We asked a lot of questions about what happened in the war, and it was amazing to be inside a piece of history like that! The tour guides knew so much about the war and really helped us to learn."
